PRISMAX has some new friends: PRISMAX OPEN, PRISMAX MIX and PRISMAX SOLID.
A contemporary 5-line humanist display typeface, PRISMAX draws on a long tradition of optical and multi-line alphabets, with references to Rudolf Koch’s PRISMA (1931) and Akihiko Seki’s AKI LINES (1970/72). Its graded lines create a strong sense of movement and dimension, while a set of interlocking ligatures adds further typographic character. The family is now ready for typographic layering. Using PRISMAX SOLID as a background, the different styles can be combined and coloured to create a wide range of graphic variations.
As with many of our fonts, details are paramount. This is where we spent our time. Our typefaces are recognised by how they look – a certain design DNA built into our library through craft and experience. Sometimes a single letter defines a font. We asked ourselves, is anything missing? The answer was ‘a utilitarian sans’ built for screens and everyday use – from micro-typography on medical packaging to digital products shapingdaily life. Through research, we wrote a brief for every glyph. Then we built it. It took time because we wanted to create something distinctly different from what we had done before.
